Kindergartens and authorized private childcare providers

The City of Monheim am Rhein has a diverse landscape of facilities and providers for its local daycare centers. The basis of the work they do is the Child Education Act (Kinderbildungsgesetz, KiBiz), which envisages an independent educational, upbringing and care mandate.

In all of the daycare centers across town, the circumstances of each individual child and their family are taken into account. Parents and children are actively involved in the day-to-day organization of the facilities. The educational staff supports the development of each child's personality in close cooperation with the child’s legal guardians. In addition, the core task is advising, supporting and informing parents with regard to any concerns relating to education and upbringing.

Our local facilities have a lot to offer and have very diverse concepts. You can find more information about the individual facilities and how places are allocated in [extern]Kivan, our central place allocation portal.

Childcare services for children under 3 years of age

In addition to the U3 (under 3) places offered in the kindergartens, we offer families with children under the age of 3 places in authorized private childcare facilities, where children from the age of 4 months are well looked after in very small groups with a family-like structure at individual times.

For further information on places in authorized private childcare facilities, please contact Ms Knisel-Scheuring: [E-Mail]gknisel@monheim.de .
Places are also allocated centrally via [extern]Kivan.

Free childcare services

In Monheim am Rhein – the Children’s Capital – childcare services in daycare facilities and kindergartens have been exempt from fees since 2014. This represents an important contribution to making sure that people can reconcile their family life with their working life and to ensuring the best possible opportunities for all children in our city.

Second place at the German Daycare Award

All of Monheim’s daycare centers have joined forces to form the Alliance of Mo.Ki Family Centers to ensure the best possible care and support in all of Monheim’s daycare centers. The City of Monheim am Rhein actively supports them and the work they do.

In June 2021, the “Mo.Ki - Monheim for Children” network was awarded the [extern]Deutschen Kita-Preis 2021 (German Daycare Prize 2021). The alliance for early education was selected from over 1,200 applications.
