Strategic Goals

On September 16, 2020, the City Council agreed on five strategic goals. They were developed from the first set of goals which had been worded in 2010 and 2014. The goals serve as the light showing the way to Monheim's future and the compass that guides policymakers and the City's administration. These are the five goals:

 

City for Everyone

Monheim am Rhein is a "City for Everyone," where inclusion and equal opportunities are practiced at every level.

What does that mean?

  • The City of Monheim am Rhein is an advocate for the concept of inclusion, which regards every person as a unique and valuable member of society.
  • We want Monheim am Rhein to develop into a place where diversity is appreciated, where participation is actively promoted and no-one is excluded. This applies in particular to people with disabilities, people with a history of migration, members of the LGBTQ community as well as senior citizens with regards to actively shaping demographic change.
  • The City of Monheim am Rhein fosters voluntary work and both amateur and professional sports activities as a way of bringing people together.
  • The City of Monheim am Rhein provides attractive, affordable and easily accessible housing and ensures a good neighborhood development in all city districts.
  • The City of Monheim am Rhein continues to enhance the Berliner Viertel quarter by means of an active district management.
  • The City of Monheim am Rhein keeps improving and extending civic involvement.

"Children's Capital"

As the "Children's Capital", the City of Monheim am Rhein creates the best possible opportunities for the future of children and young people

  • The City of Monheim am Rhein sets standards in terms of the protection of child welfare.

Climate-neutral city

The City of Monheim am Rhein relies on sustainable and innovative technologies and will be climate-neutral by 2035.

  • The City of Monheim am Rhein provides the "Monheim Pass", a portal for integrated services around town, and fosters the digitization of the city.

Culture on the banks of the river

The City of Monheim am Rhein puts an emphasis on tourism and culture to make the city even more attractive for its citizens and visitors.
