Cultural education is part of a person’s general education; it serves their personal development and involvement in society, and helps empower them to actively shape the future. It aims to develop people’s creativity and self-expression – imagination, creativity and innovation are found in every person and should be nurtured. The Kunstschule (Art School) in Monheim am Rhein pursues a holistic approach to learning that involves the mind, heart, hands and all the senses. To this end, it provides its members the freedom to experiment and try things out, to change perspectives and to reflect.
The Art School opens up a variety of approaches to interpreting the world through numerous aesthetic and artistic forms of expression and with its varied offers aimed at children, young people and adults One important idea is that children and young people, regardless of their social background, should be able to receive the best possible educational and developmental opportunities. The Art School’s program also includes offers for families, for the elderly and for people with special needs, which is part of ensuring positive living conditions for every resident of Monheim.
Besides the classic program offered at the Art School on Berliner Ring, the Art School team is also responsible for what goes on at the Kunstwerkstatt (Art Workshop) on Turmstrasse in the old part of town. The team also coordinates the art exhibited in public spaces in and around the city of Monheim am Rhein. What all three fields of activity have in common is the goal of making art a real part of everyday life for all citizens, and in a wide variety of places, too: in the art courses and workshops of the Art School, in cooperation with municipal partners, in public spaces, and in the Art Workshop, which invites you to get involved in art in its participatory and free art projects.
Art for everyone in a city for everyone!
